Once again...

I have suddenly recalled that this thing exists. However, I can't do much with it as I'm supposed to be reviewing the Inventory and Source Term Data Package (Source Term being a phrase that answers the question, "Where'd this radiation come from, anyway?" Answer: the source term. Simple, no?)

Anyway, I'm only posting at all to say, "Hi, I'm not dead but my computer is," and also to say " This renewed my faith in Hemlock_Martini as someone whose pain serves the wonderful purpose of making him produce things that make other people laugh lots and lots." MMM-wah! yourself, H_M.

Oh yeah, update the Lj...

So um, I'm home. I have been for almost ten days now. Oops. I sort of neglected to mention it here. Sorry to anyone who reads this and basically nothing else I write. (Yeah, like there are any of you out there that can't name the thread in which this whole drama has been discussed.)

Robinson is the cutest thing in the universe. This morning, after Judi got out of the shower, he pulled a pair of her sweats out, took me by the hand, (well, finger) and led me to the door so I could open it for him. Then he took her pants to her while chanting, "mama! Mama!" It was very cute. He's also started pointing at forbidden objects and saying "Dough tushhhh!" (don't touch). Smartest baby in the world. *glow*

The Day After Tomorrow....

I should get to go home.

  2002.11.12  08.00

I'm getting used to this.

I've been staying with the Culver family for almost three weeks now; I have another week to go. I'm really getting used to the house, the way things are done, the food and dishes and laundry machines and furniture and...

I don't want to miss being there when I get to go home. Allen was over for a couple of hours last night, and he was completely unstoppable. The entire time he was gibbering and muttering and cackling and leaping about and chewing on toys and sitting on the furniture upside down. Yes, he missed his medication yesterday, and that's part of it, and he's all stressed out because I'm not home, and that's part of it, but really it wasn't that unusual. Allen's like that all the time. William more so. I'm worried that I'm going to have to ease back into my own home to not be miserable. You know, go over there for dinner a couple times, maybe stay the night once or twice... It's ridiculous.

I know. I'll talk about the baby for a bit. That'll help my mood.

Robinson is getting better and better at putting words together. He can ask for "more" and he can ask for "juice" and he says "please" more cutely than any baby who ever lived. But he's starting to say "more please" or "juice please" or "bites please". ("More juice please" is still beyond him, though.)

Oh, with "please," he squinches up his eyes, wrinkles his nose, and tips his head to the side, and says "PEEEEEEEEZZZEE!" It's completely adorable and very funny. We absolutely must get pictures of it.

There, see? I'm all better now.

Man, am I tired of being lied about.

No matter what happens, though, in the end, we still are going to have some victories. For example, I get to start calling him "Bubba."

Okay, this is funny.

It rained yesterday here, basically all day. Just drizzly rain, but rain. It's foggy this morning. It hasn't been over 65 degrees in almost a week.

There's a company picnic and barbecue this afternoon.

BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Overtime good?

Overtime bad?

It's hard to say sometimes. I put in just over 60 hours last week, and spent Sunday basically exhausted. On the other hand, the checks I'll get next month will be very nice to see, indeed.

In other news, I strongly recommend taking the occasional weekend to post as a sock puppet to any of the mods or admins at <a href="http://www.brunchma.com>Brunchma</a>. Just the simple fact that you can't see the administrative fora helps Calgon the stress away. Indeed. Asshats! Yes! Eeeeh-hee-he-he! Mmmm! Asshats!

Gaahh.

Sinuses. Blerg.

The only person I know I've had contact with recently that's had a cold is Ms Chile Pepper. But my only contact with her was through IM! How do you upload a cold virus?

*honk* *sniffle* bleah.

Yay! Cropherbubbelatorusai is back! I knew he couldn't leave. Brunchma is too much of an addiction.

Maybe he's just antisocial, in an I-miss-Chicago kind of way.

Classic FM played Nessun Dorma about a half hour ago. It was good.

I was jealous of all those British commuters trapped in bad traffic on the clockwise M45 who could turn it up really loud to relax, because I just had to sit close to the speaker and wish I could hear it better.

Auction Debate Officially Declared "K THX BYE", Say Authorities

It's done now. Croph left, but considering his total absence from even planning of Seattle-area Brunchmeets, I don't think he was a central figure anymore to begin with. For what it's worth, I believe Avi when he says that the auction wasn't orchestrated by he and Egnatius; it would've been much simpler to set the reserve price at 20 or 30 thousand AUD and just resume his former position at its conclusion.

But now, I'm tired of talking about it. I'm enjoying both boards (it's nice to not have entrenched threads/positions/etc. at Ed's. Hell, it's nice to not have Brad Rules to worry about.) and I just want to get back to posting "normally". Lately, MNSBS has started to feel like But Seriously, and But Seriously has started to feel like Wax I. I don't even want to get into what Wax I has been like.

I admit it's possible that we may be dealing with more of a Berlin Wall than 'good fences make good neighbors,' but I don't think so. But Hemlock already said that. I'm just saying it here because his replies are off. :)

Thanks to Jack Havoc, I've found what I needed today.

Even Brad managed to cut it out and be concerned and civil that day.

I'd forgotten the confusion that reigned that morning. No one knew anything. We were all desperate for updates. People were posting the wildest theories and claims.

We've all aged so much.

He's Home.

And I don't want to talk about it right now. I'm exhausted. He's better off than we expected, but we were expecting really bad, so I guess this is good.

We'll see what happens in the next few days. My advice? Never regret a boring life.

Today is officially Get Nothing Done Day.

Why did I try to come to work the morning of the day I have court in the afternoon?

Did that make any sense?

I love September

Biggest reason: Starbucks gets its Anniversary Blend back onto the shelves.

This is the finest coffee blend on the planet. No arguing, it just is.

And it's strong. I'm barely halfway through my morning cuppa, and I can feel my head buzzing. Normally that takes two cups. I feel like an air conditioner. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

We go to court this afternoon. It's just a hearing, so the judge can say "yes, the restraining order is allowed, here's the bench warrant against Mr. Lown for not showing up at all, we'll schedule a day in court for two weeks out, see the clerk, thank you." Or something like that, at least.

Mmm, coffee!

BAAAAhahahahahaha!

Thanks to an almost incomprehensible link (on account of its Britishness) posted by Elynrae, we have the following incredibly hysterical incident.

----------
One boy, who had his coursework blown up by the bomb squad, received a B grade for the subject yesterday. Christian King, 16, from Worcester, left his home-made electric guitar pedal, part of his design technology course, on a train from Hereford to Nottingham last year.

Staff alerted police when they heard a metronome ticking inside. Birmingham New Street Station was closed for more than two hours and more than 100 trains were cancelled while a controlled explosion was carried out.

Yesterday Christian, a student at Hereford Cathedral School, received six Bs and two As. "I was a little disappointed with the B for design technology," he said. "But considering my course work was blown up at New Street Station I can?t complain."
----------------

What an excuse! "I don't have my homework because the bomb squad blew it up." Man, this kind of thing just doesn't happen in America. The police don't get to blow things up. I wonder if they're frustrated by that.

File under "That's so CUTE!"

We say a prayer before dinner every night. Always have.

Well, in the last couple of weeks, Robinson has started bowing his head when we all sit down. It's adorable! He even did it in the food court at the mall when Allen got a Blizzard. We all sit down at a table, and *bow* down goes his little head. For about ten seconds. Then he's done.

He also tells us when he wants to go outside to play by going to the door and pounding on it. He knows what "going bye-bye" is, and can get his shoes (which he pronounces "shuss," in a little whisper) and bring them to Mommy so she can put them on him. When she's making dinner, he demands to be picked up so he can point at the stove and say "hot!" He'll poke his finger into your chest or belly and say "tiggle tiggle tiggle."

He understands so much. He's a little person, now, not a baby any more. We have a toddler.

This is the part I've never experienced before. I "became" a Dad when William was just barely four. Old enough to talk to, reason with (sort of), and give jobs to. I've never experienced this "middle part" before that Judi's talked about for years as being her favorite part of having kids. I can understand why, now, and we're just barely into it.

"Tiggle tiggle tiggle! Roaaarrr!" (He roars, too. Then he chases you.)

Public Service Announcement

If you don't read Hemlock Martini's LiveJournal, you should, because he's a very amusing and engaging writer. I used to be able to write, and then I had an ex-wife. I think she packed up my writing ability along with all the good furniture.

Also, he posted a very amusing comment to my Wal-Mart post, below.

Monty Python's Flying Circus!

So Classic FM, the british classical music station, (which I listen to on the radio all the time) is currently playing that Sousa march that the Pythons used as their theme music! AAAHH! Wonderfulness!

But I can't help but hear that "splut" noise every time it gets to that one part. Help!

Some Great Wal-Mart?

When you think "Wal-Mart", you think things like "middle america," or "corporate giant," or "evil empire."

You certainly don't think "Depeche Mode."

But that's what was on the in-store music there last night. Granted, it was just "people are people," but still, you don't expect to hear Depeche Mode on the music at a Wal-mart, do you?

At least it wasn't a Musak version, right?

Hm. Neck pain since 5AM. Incredibly sleepy. And I have to work overtime this week.

Oh, the joy of having a contract. But hey, at least it's overtime on top of the 120% wage I'm already making. That rocks.

Tasty, yet Disgusting

So my arms have been hurting kind of a lot lately - Repetitive Motion Injuries acting up again, what with all the typing.

So I'm wearing my wrist braces a lot.

Well, I haven't worn the one for the left wrist very much since I left Starbucks about three years ago. (Or is it four? Time being what it is....) Anyway, after 30-60 minutes, I start to sweat under the brace. The sweat evaporates. Instead of stinky sweat smell, though, the wrist brace gives off...

yummy cocoa mocha chocolate smells.

From the mocha powder that has to be mixed up into fudgy sludgy goodness.

It's tasty smelling, yet really gross, because it's coming from my wrist.
